SPRING 2010

 

Register Now for Spring 2010 Classes

 

Wallingford Adult Education is now taking registrations for Spring 2010 General Interest Courses. We offer boating, trips, dining, computers, knitting, yoga, kayaking, financial management and more!

 

Please visit us at www.wallingfordadulted.org to review our Spring Brochure. Visitors can print out a registration form from our site, and either mail or fax it in.

 

Spring 2010 Computer Instruction At The Learning Center

 

  1. Weekly GED prep classes Tuesday mornings. Increased number of students (currently 22) accessing McGraw Hill Interactive GED prep software.
  2. Weekly ABE/EDP class using Merit software grammar, vocabulary and writing software.
  3. Workforce Preparation Computer Instruction Tues/Thurs evenings January 26 – mid February.

 

Equipment Update

 

o      3 rehabilitated laptops added to our laptop cart  - total 9 available for student use.

o      Office 2007 roll out – we are preparing to transition from Office 2003 to Office 2007 on all laptops and desktops over the next year.

 

Technology Presentations

 

Annual CAACE (CT Adult and Continuing Education) Conference: WAE will be offering a presentation on “Transitioning from Microsoft Word 2003 to Word 2007.” March 25 – 26, 2010 at Water’s Edge Resort in Old Saybrook.

The following materials are available for student loan:

·         Software tutorials on CD  (“Professor Teaches Office XP” – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Publisher and FrontPage 2002)

·         Portable flash drives (some with pre-loaded free anti-virus and anti-adware programs)

·         New Computer Texts available for loan – “Transitioning to Windows Vista” – “Plain & Simple Microsoft Office 2007” in addition to: Office 2003, Excel 2003, Century 21 Plus, PowerPoint, Access

  • Digital cameras with rechargeable batteries
