Fall 2008 Computer Classes
1. First time offering: High School Credit Diploma “Internet Based Research of Classic Film” Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:00 – 2:00
2. Workplace Preparation Classes will include a computer component in late Fall on Tuesday/Thursday evenings.
3. American Living Class will include Computer Skills (as well as Finances, Government and Basic Writing) Monday and Wednesday mornings
4. ABE/GED/External Diploma students have Computer Skills Class Wednesday mornings.
Fall 2008 Staff Development Workshops – November 3 and 4, 2008
“Using iCONN.org – Connecticut’s online Research Engine”
Participants will learn how to log on to www.iconn.org to find magazine articles, reference books, newspaper articles, images. We will explore “request,” a tool to reserve books at local libraries by browsing the statewide catalog of library holdings. Search journals, magazines, periodicals.
“Using The FDIC Money Smart Training Program”
Participants will learn how to use the FDIC “Money Smart Training Program,” a computer based Financial Education Program for adult learners.
Staff will each receive a CD with 10 training modules – including banking, borrowing, checking accounts, saving, borrowing and mortgage lessons.
Recently received 6 new Hewlett Packard laptops with built in wireless capability.
Network Server will be updated and installed in basement of 37 Hall Ave. (train station).
Multiple Memory Card Reader now available for staff and student use
More 1 GB Travel Drives arrived for staff and student use.

· Software tutorials on CD (“Professor Teaches Office XP” – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Publisher and FrontPage 2002)
· Imation 128 MB portable flash drives (some with pre-loaded free anti-virus and anti-adware programs), floppy disks,
· Assorted Thomson Course Technology textbooks – Office 2003, Excel 2003, Century 21 Plus, PowerPoint, Access

- IBM Thinkpad laptops
- Digital cameras with rechargeable batteries
